Getting Around
- Suzhou has no civilian airport. Use Shanghai Hongqiao (40 min by high-speed rail) or Pudong.

Suzhou Museum is free but requires reservation and is closed Mondays.
Crowds
Gardens crowded by 10 AM. Arrive at 7:30 AM for peace.

Mobile pay standard. Small tea houses may not take foreign cards.

Suzhou dialect distinct. Young people speak Mandarin.
Weather
April–May most beautiful for gardens with peonies and wisteria.
Common Pitfalls
Don't try to see all nine gardens in one day. Two or three quality visits are better.
